The Front Porch Design Society promotes ... simplicity, and a calm existence. ...designing homes differently and smaller. We believe that a small well-designed home will outperform a large sprawling home in every area. Bigger is just bigger. Most construction budgets for large homes cannot support the detailing which is required to create a beautiful home. The trend of blank, sterile, boring homes continues, and the younger generations don't know what they are missing. However, creating beautiful, functional small homes with quality materials, pleasing detailing, and outdoor living areas will excite today's homebuyer with an enjoyable home that fits their buying budget. ...the use of old fashioned materials, products, and techniques such as lath-and-plaster, real hardwood floors, wood windows and doors, chandeliers, conventionally framed roof structures, etc.
...a lifestyle change which allows you to be at your home. We believe in turning our back on an ever-growing social expectation. We believe in slowing down, sitting on the porch, taking time to talk to people, lingering over meals with family and friends, consuming less resources, and savoring each experience. We believe in getting married, having children, and creating deep and lasting relationships with family. We believe that the ultimate satifaction in human culture comes from these relationships. ...building homes with a different purpose. We believe homes should be lived in, and should not be simply a hotel room. There should be dignity in your home. The home should be used for entertaining, putting up guests in the spare bedroom, having reunions, hosting parties and baby showers, and running your business from a home office or studio. ...buying things intentionally. We believe in buying less, but of higher quality, and buying things that can be passed on to your descendants. What do you own that will be worth anything in 100 year.
